PMK leader urges State government to implement prohibition of liquor in Tamil Nadu

PMK president Anbumani Ramadoss on Monday said the party was now evolving appropriate strategies and policies to be followed in the forthcoming elections.

He told reporters here that the prevalence of corruption had come down after Narendra Modi assumed office as the Prime Minister. Although he had brought in several administrative reforms those who are part of the Government at the Centre were now raising the language issue. “This would not benefit the people. There are 22 languages in the Eighth schedule and there is no priority for any particular language,” he said.

He also urged the State government to implement prohibition of liquor in Tamil Nadu immediately or in phases. So many families have been destroyed because of liquor sold by the government. The government should not be a mute spectator anymore and implement prohibition immediately, he said.

Mr. Anbumani also urged the State government to prevail upon the Centre to bring education under the State list and remove it from the Concurrent List. States have the right to frame their own rules to admit students into medical education. The Centre should exempt Tamil Nadu from the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET), for admission to professional courses, he added.
